The etymology of pitchfork is clear enough – a fork for pitch. Easy-peasy. But what about trident? That’s just weird. Wait, okay, the “tri” part is obvious. But what about “dent”…is it related to teeth? Let’s look it up, shall we? Oh, yup. It is. So, three-teeth.
This sounds a little cooler, however:
Several Indian languages use a similar word for “trident”, trishula (tri-three + shool-thorn), derived from Sanskrit, meaning “triple spears“.
Hey, this is completely unrelated, but wish me and my team luck (and skill!) at our volleyball playoffs tonight! Wheeee! Sad to see the season go so quickly, but it’s been fun. There’s a bar in a huge warehouse (huh) here in town that has indoor sand courts, but it’s pretty gross. The sand is always moist with sweat.

Ah! We’re making a point here…
This comic doesn’t have a headline.
AAAAGHH! You’re right. Sometimes that happens with the stupid color picker thingy and…nevermind. I’ll fix it. It’s actually there, just in the “flesh” color.
Good luck. There. I helped someone . I’ve done enough today. I’m gonna go take a nap
I’m going to say “pantaloon load” next chance I get.
OMG I love Cyanide and Happiness!
I love the smug face in the 3rd panel!
